How to find the right Telephone Carrier
Here is a list of links to pages comparing long distance telephone services. Most of these sites contain long distance search engines that you can enter your area code and prefix into and they will give you a list of long distance telephone companies from the cheapest to the most expensive. Every one of these sites has rates for less than 4.5¢ per minute. I will continue to ad links to phone company websites as I find them. If you would like to see how AT&T, MCI Worlcom, Opex, Unitel and Power Net Global(PNG) compare, here is a Quick Comparison I found.
Take a look at AT&T, MCI, Qwest and Sprint's long distance pricing. I don't think you should buy their services, but you should at least know what they are charging so you know how much you are saving with the long distance calling plan providers that you will find on the right.
The Big Four Long Distance Companies. Please pay particular attention to these questions.
- Do they pay your switching fees?
- Most companies will pay this for you.
- Do they bill by the minute or every six seconds
(6 second billing can save you 40%)?
- If most of your long distance calls are over 10 minutes, don't worry about this.
- Is there a monthly fee for the plan?
- Never pay a monthly fee up front, it's the biggest rip off in the industry. Go with a plan that charges a nominal fee if your usage is under a certain dollar amount, but removes the fee if you spend more than $15.00 or $20.00 per month. If you're spending that kind of money, they're making money off of you and don't need to charge a fee.
- Does the plan have limited hours?
- If the plan has limited hours, find another plan. You shouldn't have to plan your life around your long distance telephone service.
